Surrogacy:
The surrogacy process involves a person who is agreeing to carry and give birth to someone. After the delivery of the baby, the parents get custody of the baby rather than the person who carries the baby. Surrogacy is a complex procedure and medical steps that generally happen. It’s very important to be aware of the process, professional advice and create a supportive network. Three people are involved in the process of surrogacy one is the surrogate mother(the person who carries the baby). And rest two will be a couple who receive the baby from a surrogate mom.
Who might need surrogacy?
Surrogacy is an opportunity to have a baby for a couple who cannot have the baby by themselves.
->women who don’t have a uterus or problems in the uterus.
->women who have issues in caring for a baby and also which leads to health risks to her.

Types of surrogacy:
There are two different types of surrogacy:
- Traditional surrogacy.
- Gestational surrogacy.
- Traditional surrogacy:
In this type where surrogate mother provides her egg in which the parent’s sperm is inseminated in the egg. This procedure is done by artificial insemination or by In vitro fertilization (IVF). In this type, the baby is biologically related to the surrogate mother.
- Gestational surrogacy:
In this type where an embryo is transferred into the uterus of the surrogate mother. The embryo was formed by the sperm and egg of a couple who is going intended to parents of the baby.This process is done by In vitro fertilization(IVF). In this process surrogate mom is not biologically related to the baby.
Types of surrogacy arrangements:
There are two types of surrogacy arrangements,
- Altruistic surrogacy.
- Commercial surrogacy.
- Altruistic surrogacy:
The surrogate mother does not receive any payment to undergo this process in this type the intended parents pay for costs that are related to the medical process.
- Commercial surrogacy:
The surrogate mother receives payment for undergoing into surrogacy process.

Under these two laws, commercial surrogacy is illegal.
Who can get a baby under surrogacy in India?
->the couple who completed five years of marriage.
->the wife's age should be 25- 50 years.
->the husband's age should be 26- 55 years.
->the couple doesn’t have any biological, or adopted kids prior.
->the couple should provide infertility for either partner.
->A widow or divorced women
->the couple should eligible of providing insurance coverage for 16 months postpartum for a surrogate.
Who can be a surrogate in India?
->surrogate should be a close relative to the couple.
->aged between 25-35.
->a person can be a surrogate only once in her lifetime.
->surrogate should already have a baby.
->provide medical and mental fitness certificates before starting the process.
