From One Mother to Another – The Birth of Putchi

I’m Deepika — founder of Putchi, and first a mother. When Putchi was born in March 2020, my first baby was just six months old. Today, I am a mother of two, and while my journey has evolved, one truth has remained constant:

mothers deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

In my early days of motherhood, I noticed something unsettling. During pregnancy, the world surrounds you with love and attention but the moment the baby arrives, that spotlight shifts. Suddenly, everything is about the baby.

And the mother?

She is expected to simply carry on silently adapting, endlessly giving.

I felt invisible.

There was no space created for the mother herself. No place where she could feel held, healed, heard, or honoured. The market was overflowing with baby products, but I struggled to find anything built around a mother’s comfort, her changing body, her emotions, her identity, or her dignity.

So I decided to create that space
a care-led Indian maternity & baby brand dedicated to feeding wear, maternity essentials, newborn comfort and postpartum support.

A brand built by a mom for native moms one that understands motherhood beyond products, and designs for the woman behind the mother.

Putchi was born from my own motherhood the messy, beautiful, exhausting, and transformative journey it truly is. I knew I couldn’t be the only woman who felt unseen, overwhelmed, and searching for herself again. I imagined a brand that wouldn’t just sell products, but build a village for mothers because every mother deserves one.

What began with maternity wear quickly grew into a movement:
a care-led Indian maternity and baby brand designed around the mother herself.

For the woman who just became a mom.

For the one learning to love her changing body.

For the one rediscovering who she is.

For the one who holds everything together, even when she is falling apart inside.

My husband, Thiyagarajan, believed in this vision from day one. He joined me as co-founder bringing his strength, clarity, and conviction that this mission matters. Together, we are building Putchi in India for mothers everywhere a space that speaks to her needs, her identity, her comfort, her native roots, and her resilience.

This isn’t just a brand.

It is a promise a revolution in softness, in support, in strength, and in identity.

Putchi is here — for every mother.

Our Mission

To build a world where mothers are not an afterthought but the starting point.

Putchi exists to bring comfort, confidence, and community to women before, during, and after pregnancy, through:

• thoughtfully designed maternity and feeding wear

Our mission is to walk beside her through pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum healing, and rediscovery creating a space that is fully hers.

A place where she feels held, heard, and honoured.
